Grow Grafton is a housing initiative established by the City of Grafton to encourage new construction within the community. The program is managed by the city’s Economic Development Office and provides cash grants, tax abatements, and other incentives to those taking part in the program.

The purpose of the Grow Grafton program is exactly what the name implies—to nurture and develop Grafton’s growing reputation as an outstanding place to live and do business. Through the Grow Grafton program, you can be an integral part in the future growth of our community.

Thanks to a most generous gift from Marvin Windows and Doors, the City of Grafton is pleased to introduce Grow Grafton and the first step toward your new home.

Yes, anyone can qualify for the Grow Grafton incentive package as long as you meet the program requirements. The program is open to all types of housing—meaning low, moderate, and high income level households can participate.

The first step in participating is to agree to build a new home on a currently vacant residential property in Grafton, or move an existing home into Grafton from outside the city limits. This must then become your primary residence.

The program is open to residents and nonresidents of Grafton who meet the qualifications and agree to the criteria established by the City of Grafton Economic Development Office. A complete list of requirements can be viewed by clicking the qualifications link, and is also included in the Grow Grafton information packet available through the City of Grafton Economic Development Office at (701) 352-1561.

The Grow Grafton program applies to any vacant lot that has been approved for residential construction within the city limits. This includes private and city-owned properties.

As an added bonus, city-owned lots may be purchased at a cost of ONE DOLLAR from the Grafton Economic Development Office. These lots are located in the Lessard Addition on the southwest side of the city. Valued at approximately $20,000 each, many of these lots are already developed (water, sewer and paved streets).

Maps of these properties are included in the Grow Grafton packet. These maps are also viewable online by clicking the Grafton city map here, and the Lessard Addition map here. It is a good idea to contact the Grafton Economic Development Office or your Realtor for an up-to-date list as some properties may have been sold or added since the start of the program.

Enrolling in the Grow Grafton program is easy. Simply contact the City of Grafton Economic Development Office by calling (701) 352-1561 or contact them through the Grafton city website www.graftongov.com. There you will receive information about available housing programs along with information on the process, including financing options, a list of contractors, additional incentives, and government programs.

As an example of how Grow Grafton works, consider an individual with a $20,000 salary. Based on the USDA 502 program, this person will qualify for approximately a $112,000* loan, resulting in about a $600/month payment. Along with the City of Grafton’s $20,000 cash, tax incentives and a free lot, the savings can be substantial.

Those who live here already know the benefits of being a resident of Grafton. As a new neighbor through the Grow Grafton program, you soon will too. For more information or to get started, call the City of Grafton Economic Development Office today.
